Greeting in the wonderful name of Jesus,
I have just spent the last few weeks in Nigeria working with Dr Ferdinand, visiting some of the places and people who have been blessed by TTN Ministries and our partners with life changing equipment.
Be sure to read and share our upcoming newsletters as I share more about the TTN Ministries trip into Nigeria.

During our travels we witnessed first-hand the devastation caused and still happening in Nigeria’s North and North East. Meeting people who have lost everything, yet hearing testimonies of survival and God’s protection.
To hear of heart wrenching loss and see physical scars is one thing, but you see the real pain in someone’s eyes.
It is very hard for me to articulate the trial and pain these people faced. I stood in a church, quiet and overcome as I was in a situation where I didn’t have an answer to the obvious problem before me.
I didn’t have a word that could bring healing, I was at a complete loss. To these and many more the old church, where I was standing, is now home. Sadly, the people I have met are not alone in this story.
$1000 for food – Isaiah 58:10
$1000 for medicine – Luke 9:2
$1000 for mosquito nets – Psalm 12:7
This church is the refuge for many, at night there is not even enough floor space to contain them all. It smells damp and of the multitude of people who now call it ‘home’. The people here once lived barely 15 km away. Their homes now destroyed, their land stolen, occupied by the Fulani and a return to reclaim their home means death.
This is the face of religious persecution
- There is no help.
- There is no refugee camp.
- No rows of white tents.
- No World Health Organisation
- No UNICEF.
This story is repeated all over the north of Nigeria and the plateau state.

I asked “how many?” as if knowing the number of people this affected could somehow limit the pain I was seeing and provide me with a starting point as to what to do. They all looked at each other their answer was the same “it’s like water, it’s so many you can’t count”
Among the many stories the one that struck me was when a man, mid-forties approached me carrying a small child. Knowing that his story was no worse than any other, he needed to tell, he needed to share the burden he carried, he needed someone to know his pain and his loss.
The day Fulani came, they heard them shooting and attacking the next village, they didn’t know what to do. So he organised with others to hide the women and children in room in a house. Instantly I saw him begin to shake and the tears grow in his eyes, my heart sunk. He stood in front of me with a child in his arms the soul survivor of his village.
I listened.
The Fulani found the house where they had hidden the 70 women and children and killed all of them. Those that were not shot were burned alive. I stood numb and at total loss at what to say or do. He continued, as in his mind he tried to come to terms with what happened in his village. He alone survived. I don’t know for sure, but I had on overwhelming sense that he felt responsible for the 70 people he had helped to hide, he explained that the other villages had done the same to protect their women and children yet sadly the same thing had happened.
Are you struggling, like I am, at the magnitude of this story?

I guess like me you may have questions and many emotions. This is very real, and we need to respond in a very real way.
TTN Ministries doesn’t have the perfect answer, but we serve a perfect God.
We do know they need food, the people who are sheltering them currently have their resources stretched. We do know that malaria is affecting the refugees and they need immediate treatment for injuries sustained in the attacks and for basic health issues.
