Greetings in the Name of Jesus
The first 1/2 of the year is done and dusted! This would be our Second Quarter Newsletter. To put it into a different perspective, just 25 weeks to 2020… but who is counting.
Well it’s been full steam ahead here. Early June we received the Zambian container. We unpacked, sorted, and begun distributions to many of our ministry friends and partners.
Some new friends had need for a wheelchair for a young girl with Spina bifida. This was the happiest child I have met in a long time! With slight modifications, replacing the chair with a car seat, the wheelchair was just right with full body support, and solid tyres that won’t get a punctured. Tough build, easy to fix, ready for the village! Also added was a pram and a few other items just to make life a little easier.
We have been building our influence into the Siavonga district health and hospital (located on the shores of Kariba Dam), and we delivered a truckload of equipment there (pictured). We have a huge testimony: beyond now having a full-time chaplain position, the chaplain also has a full-time seat on the advisory board of the hospital. Wow, what favour!
Our testimonies don’t stop there. The success of the Chaplain team in Ndola central hospital and its radio programs has resulted in the doors opening up in the Arthur David’s children hospital in Ndola – the largest children’s hospital in the country – and Kitwe teaching hospital with the training of a chaplain team happening there now. Pictured below is the load of medical equipment we were able to delivery to the two hospitals, and knitted items given to children at Arthur David’s Children hospital.
I am basically in tears when I sit back and look at the journey and transition from doing crusades country wide, to now. Due to the support, we’ve been able to ship containers of medical equipment and stay the course in season and out of season. We have seen the development of chaplain programs in the 2nd largest, the 3rd largest, and 5th largest hospitals in the country, as well as Siavonga and the Arthur David’s Children Hospital. We are potentially close to being able to reach 5 percent of our nation’s population every year just through hospital chaplaincy. We just need to grow the teams to match the doors that are open.
Give us a few more years and we will double that to a tithe of the nation. But Lord Jesus give us the opportunity for every African Nation!
God’s love is also going beyond the hospitals into schools.
We’ve also been able to deliver 300 plus blankets to a prison, washable sanitary pads for girls in rural communities so they don’t have to miss school, and socks for women in prison to help keep warm.
A number of years ago we were asked to build a birthing clinic for a village and a classroom for the 70 OVC (Orphaned Vulnerable Children)
This project has been a mainstay in the community with hundreds of children going to school, monthly medical outreaches, 100s of babies delivered safely, and now an HIV ARV medication centre, as well giving hope and life to many.
But 7 years on we need to finish the classrooms and renovate the clinic.
With all supplies I have from the container that arrived, we just need 800 dollars for doors, glass, etc. 18/19 July with the visiting team and the school PTA we will get this done. In Australia, the team in Mackay has knocked out the container off to Kenya which reaches into the communities of the drought-ravaged north. They work with my mates Simba Masai, friend in the Mara, as well as impact the lives of some of Kenya’s most vulnerable families with disabled and handicapped people living in the slums and compounds of Nairobi.
Awesome, awesome work!
With the help from churches in Townsville and Warwick, we sourced a container to ship to Mozambique and filled it with surplus goods from the flood relief in Townsville. The container is now in Mackay, soon to be repacked with medical and construction materials ready to help out in the massive rebuild in Mozambique which may take years to do. Our heart is to see if we do one container or many. Let’s see what God says!
