Part IV – Never Too Old..
We can learn a great deal from people who live day to day in the shadow of poverty, they truly understand how fortunate they are to be alive and treasure every day. Be encouraged, don’t permit the poverty of time to exclude you from the miracles within the abundance of God’s grace.
Part IV – You Are Never Too Old
You are never too old to witness the miracle to be found in God’s perfect timing
Within the first 24 hours of the containers arrival, we witnessed God’s abundant grace and perfect timing. While unpacking the container we received news of a local pastor who was in hospital needing a particular type of operation. But the lack of equipment meant they couldn’t help him. Hearing this, Chris quickly checked some of the boxes and sure enough there was just the right medical supplies to perform his operation. Glory to God!
You are never too old to outreach into your local community to establish a united group of women (or men)
Angela & Chris and my charming grandson Immanuel, are living in a new area of Kabwe, called Kalonga. Angela is a business woman, a woman of courage and an evangelist, she had invited ALL the ladies of her district to her home for an outreach lunch. Her “idea” – to establish a united group of women to support each other in good times and bad.
Almost 100 ladies came along, dressed in their Sunday best, excited at meeting their new neighbour and the visiting ladies from Australia. There was a mixture of women from many different churches and some un-churched ladies as well. Josephine and I had an opportunity to share the Wordless Bible and the Women’s Survival Kit of which they all had one each to take home and share. We had lunch together and Angela presented her idea. It was a great time of getting to “know your neighbour” and the “idea” was enthusiastically received.
You are never too old to walk with lions
What is a short term mission to Africa without a safari! Or in our case, a three generation, 1200 km road trip including an international border water crossing.
Shopping in Lusaka’s textile markets; walking with zebra and giraffe; Teagan and Josephine had a behind the scenes tour of the Orphaned Elephant Wildlife Park and then onto Livingstone. The mighty Victoria Falls, riding on an elephant, taking a cheetah for a walk and a stroll with lions. A ferry crossing into Botswana, a leisurely boat cruise watching buffalo, hippo and elephant then our wonderful ‘glamping’ accommodation with view into Zimbabwe while we watched elephants visit the nearby watering hole. God is certainly in the detail of creating all things magnificent!
You are never too old to follow God’s call of destiny on your life
I turned 71 during my short term mission with TTN. I realised then that age is just a number and doesn’t reflect anything else. That no matter what, I can keep following the CALL and DESTINY to inspire, encourage and uplift women in my sphere of influence. I can and will continue to be a Woman of Impact.
Before departing we and the To the Nations Team all had dinner together at “Tuskers” – to say thank you for their loyalty to the Ministry, the commission that God has for the people of Zambia to be reached through their obedience to HIS call.
My son, Chris, Director of TTN is the most humble, wise, and passionate person you could ever meet. He is, I am sure a friend of God, he leads with dignity, integrity and insight a very powerful and impacting ministry that few even realise or appreciate, always giving God the glory. The whole team outwork their ‘UNCONTAINED LOVE’ for the Nation of Zambia and also the other nations they outreach into: Tanzania, Malawi, Swaziland, Congo, Nigeria, and many more.
You are never too old to learn lessons from others
Zambians are such a happy, humble and grateful people. They are very genuine, loving and relational. Time is not as important as we make it to be; to them communication and relationship is paramount. That is why when they know the Lord as their saviour they are not shy at giving glory to Him for everything they have. HE is the centre of everything they do and say. I can honestly say I received much more from the Zambian people than I gave. I shall never grow old, while there is love in my heart for them all. And to everyone reading this report – you are NEVER too old to fulfil the call of God’s purpose and destiny on your life. Don’t wait another day, week, month or year – get out there and JUST DO IT!
You are never too old to pray
Dear Lord, I have been transformed by an UNCONTAINED LOVE far beyond my understanding. Thank You, Lord, for taking my life and making it something holy and special. Make my life a glory to your name.
Psalms 107:2-3
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; and gathered them out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
